SCREENPLAY:
UNSEEN

written by ROBERT BRUINEWOUD

GENRE: sci-fi horror – SHORT, 22-pages

LOGLINE:
When her ex-business partner begs her to resolve an issue with his new software, a hacker learns that the app actually exposes users to a weird, parallel dimension that places them in grave danger.

SYNOPSIS:
Late at night, a programmer is interrupted while working, by a phone call from her ex-business partner.

The next day she is driven by her friend to the ex-partner’s mansion in the country. There, the ex-partner reluctantly reveals the problem with his new software: i.e. it opens up people’s perceptions and exposes to them a parallel dimension haunted by vicious creatures. The demonstration goes out of control, turning the ex-partner into a human-creature hybrid and releasing a horde of creatures into our reality.

The programmer and her friend try to flee, and are forced to kill the ex-partner to save themselves.

Meanwhile, in the US, after ignoring the email telling him not to activate the app, a beta-tester and his mother are killed by creatures.

THE VIBE:
A contemporary riff on Lovecraft’s classic From Beyond.

NOTE:
While the script works as a standalone short, there is a plenty of potential within the premise to expand it into a feature.

If you’re a producer, director and/or SFX studio interested in a script requiring extensive CG imagery to play with, Unseen might be for you. Unseen is available to read at Script Revolution or you can contact me via the contact form.
