SCREENPLAY:
SERIAL KILLER KILLER
written by ROBERT BRUINEWOUD
GENRE: thriller / horror – SHORT, 7-pages
LOGLINE:
An actor, famous for portraying a serial killer in a successful franchise, is confronted by an actual serial killer seeking retribution for the actor’s multiple transgressions.
SYNOPSIS:
Soon after learning about the death of a fellow actor, BRYCE is accosted in his home by THE KILLER. Assuming The Killer is a burglar, Bryce offers him money, but he isn’t interested. Instead The Killer demands an apology.
At first confused, Bryce learns The Killer is angry about the fact that actors who play serial killers in movies and shows, are not actual killers.
Bryce is arguing his case when he sees his PA, PRIYA, at the door. Ignoring her obvious injuries, Bryce yells at her to get help. Sadly, she is immediately killed.
Bryce seizes the moment to grab the large TRIDENT he has on display and rushes The Killer, stabbing him with it. However the Trident is just a prop, and it breaks without harming The Killer. While relieved by the reveal, The Killer is not happy.
THE VIBE:
A serial killer makes a case for his fellow murderers in the ongoing entertainment industry debate around who should be ‘allowed’ to play certain roles.
NOTE:
While the script works as a standalone short, it could be expanded into a fun feature. In the movie, The Killer would slaughter a number of actors who play serial killers, and anyone else who gets in the way. Eventually he meets his match when he targets the actor behind “Karrion”, the new female serial killer franchise and fan favourite.
